[uddrag]

My muse has now for a long time slumbered. It is a whole year and five months since I was taken ill, and I am still suffering; my recovery progresses, but very slowly. My liver has been attacked, I am still asthamtical and rheumatic; it is only with great fague I move up and down stairs. I miss the enjoyment of visiting my friends, but they are faithful, and visit me instead. Nothwithstanding all this, my physician is confident that the spring will restore me to health and strenght, and then I sahll travel as usual. How I long to visit England again, and see my English friends, but they tell me that would be too fatiguing, so I must be content to journey Sotuh, to the mountains.
