Dear Sir, I have cut this article from the "New York Tribune" to send to you thinking it will give you pleasure to know you have true and grateful friends here. Please accept his dollar and please use it for something you need. I have long thoughtI would write to you and thank you for the pleasure you have given me. Every time I read your stories I find something new to admire. They are as pure and fresh as only a real poet's can be. Papa says that I am seventeen to day, that the dollar is my own, that he does not suppose you are in any particular need of money, but, asd I owe yu this and a great deal more he thinks it proper for me to send it. He also wishes to be particularly remembered to you, and says he opes you will live many years yet in peaceful old age, and that God will bless you here and hereafter.

With great respect I am sincerely and gratefully Yours. Abigail B. Tompkins
