Andersen, the Danish poet (the "ugly duckling") has been here, and quite in his element. One day, when he dined with us, I read aloud after dinner to my wife and the Brackenburys one of his little stories. and he was so well pleased with my doing this, that he jumped up and kissed me, as Mrs. Disraely would say, "all over". He is a perfect faun, half child, half God.
