Copenhagen 2 October 1851.
Dear mr Hurton!
Would that you, during your stay in Copenhagen, had afforded me the pleasure of a visit, earlier than it occured; would that i could have had occasion to be of some sort of service to you, and in one way or another contributed to make your stay as agreable; - but just to meet you, to shake hands and exchange af few friendly words was all, - and I did not even know with what an affectiionate mind you had read my writigns, how kindly you felt disposed towards me. This I now see, it shines through your book, out of every expression about me, not to speak of your having honored me with the dedication of the whole work.
I kan here only give you my poor thanks and tell you that you have afforded me a great pleasure by this honor and kindness, which you, a son of Shakespeares land, have shown me! May God, bless and grant you as much you as you have / [resten mangler]
