Translations

- Texts by Hans Christian Andersen have been  translated into almost 150 languages. This does not mean that texts by him are accessible or common in all those languages today. The number - which is constantly augmented with new translations and the discovery of old ones, which were not formerly known in Denmark, reflects a registration through time. The number may also reflect the fact that only one or a few Andersen texts exist in the language in question, so it does not necessarily say anything about how much of his work is known today or the extent to which Andersen's work is known on a global scale.

The Hans Christian Andersen Museum has made a website on the subject, where you may read fairy tales in 123 different languages Open this link in the window 'new' !
